Our Morne Blanc hike on Mahé leads you into the mountains of the Morne Seychellois National Park. The trail starts near the old tea factory on the Sans Souci road and climbs through a cool, green mist forest. At the top a wooden viewing platform waits at the edge of the cliff, with one of the most photographed views of our island: straight down to the west coast and the sea.
The trail is short, but it is steep. You walk over roots and rocks, under tall trees, tree ferns and endemic palms. Your guide takes it slowly, explains the plants along the way and makes sure you enjoy every step.
This is a private tour, only for you and your partner, family or group. We pick you up anywhere on Mahé and bring you back afterwards. Plan about 3.5 hours in total, with 2–3 hours on the trail.

Morne Blanc: a mountain hike in the heart of Mahé
Mahé is not only beaches. Behind the coast the island rises steeply into green granite mountains, and many of them belong to the Morne Seychellois National Park. The park is named after Morne Seychellois, the highest mountain of the Seychelles, and it covers a large part of the interior of Mahé. Morne Blanc is one of its most beautiful peaks, and the trail to the top is a favourite with our guests.
The hike is short, but it feels like a real mountain tour. Within a few minutes you leave the road behind and enter a different world: cool air, moss on the rocks, the sound of dripping water and the calls of birds in the trees.
The Morne Blanc hike step by step
Start near the old tea factory
The trail begins on the Sans Souci road, the mountain road that crosses Mahé from Victoria to the west coast. Close to the start lies the old tea factory, surrounded by tea plantations on the slopes. It is a lovely first impression of the mountains before the forest begins.
Through the mist forest
From here the path climbs steadily. The forest at this height is a mist forest: humid, green and often wrapped in clouds. You walk under tall trees, past tree ferns and endemic palms. Your guide explains which plants grow only in the Seychelles and what the Creole names mean. Listen for the forest birds, such as the Seychelles bulbul, which you often hear before you see it.
The trail is steep in places, with roots and rocks that work like natural steps. We walk at a relaxed pace and take breaks whenever you like. There is no rush.
The viewing platform
At the top the trees step back and you reach the wooden viewing platform. It stands right at the edge of the cliff, and the view is breathtaking: far below lies the west coast of Mahé with its bays, the forest slopes and the blue of the Indian Ocean. This is the picture many people know from photos of Morne Blanc, and it is even more impressive in real life.
We stay as long as you like. Sometimes a cloud drifts past and hides the view for a few minutes, then the coast appears again. It is a special moment every time.
Is the Morne Blanc hike right for you?
You do not need to be a mountaineer. A normal level of fitness and good shoes are enough. Still, the climb is steep and can be slippery after rain, so we recommend the tour for children from 8 years with some walking experience. There are no dangerous animals in the Seychelles, and your guide knows the trail very well.
Bring sturdy closed shoes, water, mosquito repellent and a light rain jacket. Up in the mountains it is cooler and wetter than on the coast. Mornings are usually the best time, because clouds tend to build up later in the day.
