Our Rockpool tour on Mahé takes you to a place many visitors hear about but never find. The rock pool lies in the wild south of the island, off the usual roads and without signs. We know the way, and we are happy to guide you there.
We pick you up wherever you stay on Mahé and drive you to the start of a short, easy hike. A few small rocks to climb, a lot of green around you, and then the pool: clear water framed by granite, perfect for a swim, a photo or simply a quiet moment.
The tour is private, so it is only you and your partner, family or group. It fits nicely into half a day and is relaxed enough for children from 6 years.

Why join our Rockpool tour on Mahé
Not everyone who travels to the Seychelles gets the chance to see the Rockpool. It is not easy to find, and most people who look for it on their own give up or take the wrong path. We have been guiding guests on Mahé since 2020, and this is one of the places we love to share. You simply relax, and we take care of the way.
The Rockpool is unique. Smooth granite, clear water and the sound of the ocean close by make it feel far away from everything, even though it is only a short walk from the road. It is the kind of place you remember long after your holiday.
A relaxed half day in the wild south
The south of Mahé is quieter and greener than the busy north. On the drive you see villages, coastline and mountain slopes, so the tour is also a small sightseeing trip. Because it takes around 3–4 hours in total, it fits perfectly into a morning. You still have the afternoon free for the beach, a nap or a long lunch.
How easy is the hike?
The hike is easy. It takes about an hour, and there are only a few small rocks to climb. You do not need hiking experience, just normal fitness and sturdy shoes. Flip flops are not suitable on the rocks, so please wear trainers or walking sandals with a good grip. Your guide walks at your pace and helps where needed.
Swimming in the rock pool
Once we arrive, the time is yours. Jump into the pool, swim a few lengths, float on your back or sit on the warm rocks. Many guests bring a camera, because the light and the colours here are beautiful. Others just enjoy the calm. Bring a small towel and a change of clothes, then the walk back is comfortable too. Swimming only in good weather, with a calm sea and when your guide says it is safe. If waves wash into the pool, we stay out.
Private tour with free pick up
This is a private tour. Only you and your partner, family or group take part, so we can adapt the day to you. Tell us if you have special wishes, and we will do our best to make your Rockpool walk perfect. We pick you up anywhere on Mahé: your hotel or guesthouse, the airport, the Victoria jetty, the cruise terminal, Eden Island or your friends' home. After the tour we bring you back to the same place or wherever you like on the island, at no extra cost.
Who guides you
Island Tour Seychelles is a family business run by Sheena Jean, a licensed Seychellois tour guide. Together with our guides Chris, Kevin, Yannick and Keeto, we show our island the way we know it: personal, relaxed and with a lot of local knowledge. Our guides speak English and French, and Sheena also speaks a bit of German.
Good to plan: food, drinks and family
We bring some water, but we never know how much you like to drink, so feel free to bring extra water or a soft drink. After the hike you can have something to eat in the area. Lunch and drinks are optional and paid by you on site. The tour is relaxed and good for families with children from 6 years. If two adults book with children, the first child aged 5–12 joins for free.
Choose your date, your pick up place and time and the number of guests, then book your Rockpool tour online. Free cancellation is possible up to 24 hours before the tour.

Very good trip. Great tour, Sheena was very encouraging throughout and was able to talk in Depth about the history of the site, more demanding trek than I thought but still very manageable

Sheena rocks!!! Today was great — walking tour of Victoria added on at the last minute and the hike made a great combo for the day (add’l fee was reasonable). This is an amazing hike and Sheena makes sure of that!! Going through the forest to get to the coast and rock pool was so much fun. Sheena was knowledgeable and super patient!! Absolutely Incredible. Today we arrived in Victoria and embarked on this incredible adventure…hiking to the rock pool! Our guide, Sheena, was absolutely amazing. The driver and Sheena met us at the exit of the cruise terminal. We headed approximately 1 hour to the south end of the island where we got to see and pet giant turtles…unbelievable! After taking in the views, we began our hike to the rock pool which may ha…
