You design your own pareo, with your colours, your flowers, branches, leaves, granite stones and whatever comes to your mind. Ras Tony and his team at Roots Seychelles show you the technique and guide you to the right plants. The result is a unique piece that you keep: a very personal souvenir from the Seychelles.

Your day
Pick up
We pick you up at your hotel, guesthouse or any address on Mahé. Enjoy the ride with some Creole music until we reach Roots Seychelles.
The workshop
The workshop starts at 10:00 am or 1:00 pm and lasts about one hour, depending on how creative you feel. There is no hurry at all. That's a promise.
The sun takes over
Once your design is ready, the sun needs around 2 hours to create a perfect print on your pareo.
Beau Vallon beach
Meanwhile we take you to Beau Vallon beach. Have a snack in a beach restaurant, walk along the sand, swim or enjoy a cocktail. We give you your privacy.
Or: meet a flying fox
If you prefer another attraction, we take you to see a flying fox (fruit bat) up close. There is no extra charge.
Collect your pareo
After about 2 hours we return to Roots Seychelles to collect your pareo. Then we bring you back to your accommodation in a good mood.

Your workshop with Ras Tony at Roots Seychelles
Ras Tony and his team welcome you at Roots Seychelles. They show you the technique step by step, guide you to the flowers and leaves and open your senses for the small details of nature. You can design your pareo alone, with your partner or with the whole family. The workshop starts at 10:00 am or 1:00 pm and lasts about one hour. Take your time. Nobody rushes you here.
A souvenir with a story
At the end you hold a unique piece in your hands, made by you on our island. It is a souvenir that carries the colours and plants of the Seychelles, and a memory of a special day. Very few holidaymakers get to experience something like this on their Seychelles trip.
Two hours for the sun, two hours for you
After the creative part, the sun needs around two hours to create the perfect print. This is your time to relax. We take you to Beau Vallon beach, one of the most popular beaches on Mahé. Have a snack in a beach restaurant, take a walk, go swimming or enjoy a cocktail with your feet in the sand. We give you your privacy.
Or meet a flying fox
Would you rather see something different? We can also take you very close to a flying fox, the large fruit bat of the Seychelles. There is no extra charge for this. Beach, lunch or flying fox: you decide, and everything stays relaxed.
Rain or shine
The nice thing about this tour: it also works in bad weather. Even when you cannot see the sun, it is still there and prints your pareo. And a cocktail at the beach bar tastes good in warm tropical rain too. It is far better than waiting at the hotel bar.
Private tour with free pick up
We are a family business on Mahé, run by Sheena Jean since 2020. On this tour we pick you up anywhere on Mahé: at your hotel, guesthouse, the airport, the cruise port, the CatCocos jetty, Eden Island or a friend's home. On the way we play some Creole music. After collecting your pareo, we bring you back to your accommodation. Transport is included, and the tour is private for you and your partner, family or group of up to 10 guests. Our guides speak English and French, and Sheena also speaks a bit of German.
