Anse Soleil is on the west coast of Mahé, below Baie Lazare, at the end of a narrow road that winds steeply downhill. The bay is small, framed by granite rocks and therefore better sheltered than the large beaches around it. For many guests it is their favourite beach of the day, precisely because it is compact.
Snorkelling
Rocks line both ends of the bay and it is worth putting on a mask there: fish gather close to the rocks and the water is usually clear. The sandy bottom in the middle makes for an easy entry. You don't need fins.
Eating on the beach
A small café serving Creole food and drinks sits right on the sand, along with toilets. That's not a given on this coast and it makes your stop feel like a proper visit.
Getting there
The final stretch is narrow, steep and has oncoming traffic. It's doable in a rental car, but not ideal for your first day on the island. We drive this road regularly.
How to reach it
Via Baie Lazare, turning off to Anse Soleil. Anse Soleil is a regular stop on our beach tour.
Nearby
Petite Anse is just around the next bend, Anse à la Mouche a few minutes north, and Anse Intendance over the hill to the south.
