Petite Anse is located near Baie Lazare on the west side of Mahé, and although the name promises something small, it is a wide arc of pale sand between two rocky headlands. You cannot see the bay from the main road, you have to go down the slope, and this keeps the number of people low.
The access
The road leads via the street that belongs to the resort on the slope. The beach itself is, like all beaches on the Seychelles, public. At the top you will be asked where you are going, and if you want to go to the beach, you can go to the beach. With us this is no question, we drive the road anyway.
Swimming
The bay faces west and has no continuous reef. From May to September there is swell, then it is more of a beach for walking; in the calm months the water is clear and shallow. Your guide will check the conditions before you go in.
What you get here
Space and peace. There is no shop on the beach, shade only at the edges. Bring water with you, then an hour here is more restful than three hours at a busy beach.
How to get there
Via Baie Lazare, the final part is steep. On our beach tour Petite Anse is a fixed stop.
Right nearby
Anse Soleil is just around the next bend, Anse à la Mouche a few minutes further north.
