Anse à la Mouche is a wide bay on the west coast of Mahé, between Baie Lazare and Anse Boileau. The water is very shallow and calm, protected by the reef and the shape of the bay. You can walk far out and still be standing.
More for relaxing than swimming
That is exactly what it says in our day planner too: very shallow, more for relaxing than swimming. If you want to swim laps, this is not the place for you. If you are travelling with small children or just want to sit in warm water, you are in exactly the right spot.
In the evening
The bay faces west, and when the water is calm, the sky reflects in it. For the sunset, Anse à la Mouche is one of the most reliable spots on the island. There are restaurants along the road, some with views of the water.
What else there is
Kayaks and stand up paddleboards can be rented nearby, and because there are hardly any waves, you can do this even without experience. Trees line the shore and provide shade.
How to get there
On the west coast road, easily reached by bus. Anse à la Mouche is a regular stop on our beach tour.
Close by
Anse Soleil and Petite Anse are to the south, Le Jardin du Roi and Anse Royale are on the other side of the island, about twenty minutes away.
