Hikes and Walks in the Seychelles: Guided Trails on Mahé

From a 30 minute stroll to a half day in the mountains: discover the best hikes and walks in the Seychelles on Mahé, private and guided by locals.

Mahé is a walker's island. Granite peaks, cinnamon forests, hidden bays and views over the Indian Ocean wait just a few minutes from the coast. We offer private, guided hikes and walks in the Seychelles, with a clear focus on Mahé. If you would like a hike that is not too strenuous but full of things to see, and that challenges the eye as much as the legs, we are very happy to take you.

Our guided hikes on Mahé

These eight trails can be booked directly as private tours:

  • Anse Major hike (about 2 hours): a coastal path through the Morne Seychellois National Park to a quiet, wild bay on the north west coast.
  • Rockpool hike (about 1.5 hours): a short adventure to natural rock pools, perfect for a refreshing swim.
  • Copolia hike (about 2 hours): up through the forest to a granite summit with a wide view over Victoria, Eden Island and the east coast.
  • Ros Lepa hike (about 2–3 hours): an easy walk through a scented cinnamon forest in the southwest to a natural granite staircase.
  • Morne Blanc hike (about 2–3 hours): a short but steep climb through the mist forest of the Morne Seychellois National Park to a viewing platform high above the west coast.
  • Trois Frères hike (about 3–4 hours): our most demanding half day hike, up to the three granite peaks above Victoria with a view over the harbour and the Ste Anne Marine Park.
  • Gorilla Hike (about 2–3 hours): a guided trail to a granite rock formation that looks like a gorilla, with wide views.
  • Dans Gallas trail (about 2–3 hours): a quiet forest walk in the mountains of the Morne Seychellois National Park.

How long are the hikes?

Our hikes and walks in the Seychelles usually last between 1 and 6 hours. We do not recommend longer tours, because the tropical climate is unfamiliar to most visitors. Heat and humidity make a big difference, so we keep a relaxed pace and take regular breaks.

More than a walk: nature and stories

When we hike with our guests, we love to take plenty of time for conversation and information about the Seychelles. Along the way we show you what nature has to offer: the Seychelles are home to many endemic plants and animals, and you will be pleasantly surprised by how much there is to discover. Many trails lead through the shade of cinnamon forests, where you can enjoy the silence, the smells and the views.

Our walks are safe. There are no dangerous animals in the Seychelles, and the small climbs can be done without problems and without ropes.

Hikes for children from 5 years

Children from about 5 years old love hiking in the Seychelles, because there is so much to see: lizards, colourful birds, giant boulders and little streams. Many of our trails are shaded and easy to split into short sections, so the whole family can enjoy the day.

What to bring

  • sturdy shoes with a good grip
  • something to drink
  • sun protection and a hat
  • swimwear for trails that end at a beach or rock pool

That is really all you need. We take care of everything else.

Why hike with a guide in the Seychelles?

We do not recommend doing these hikes on your own, even if you have a lot of hiking experience. Without a local guide you will surely miss one or the other viewpoint, and many small details stay hidden.

Safety matters too. The Seychelles jungle, the climate and some complicated paths can make a hike difficult without local knowledge. Your guide knows what to do in an emergency, has all important phone numbers and is trained. Our team has completed first aid courses, we are insured and we always carry a first aid kit for minor injuries. With us you are in safe hands.

Book your private hike

All our hikes are private: only you and your partner, family or group, at your pace. We pick you up free of charge anywhere on Mahé, and our guides speak English and French, and Sheena also speaks a bit of German. Would you like to combine a hike with sightseeing? Our Mahé Island Tour shows you the whole island in one day. Send us a message on WhatsApp at +248 2753440 and we will help you choose the perfect trail.
