Mont Signal sits directly above Victoria, and the walk up is short enough to fit into any day tour. From the top you see what never comes together from below: the capital, the harbour with the freighters, Eden Island, and behind it the islands of the Sainte-Anne National Park in the flat, light water.
Why this stop is worth it
Because it explains where you are. Victoria feels like a couple of intersections from the street; from up here you see that the city lies in a narrow plain between mountain and sea, and that the rest of the island rises steeply. Ten minutes is enough for that, and that is exactly how it fits in the day planner.
Light and time
In the morning the sun is well positioned for pictures towards the islands, in the late afternoon the city lies in warm light. When clouds hang low, the detour is less worthwhile, then we prefer to drive on, and your guide will decide that on the day.
How to get there
Via the road above Victoria, by bus it is complicated. On our island tour Mont Signal is a possible stop that you can add to the day planner yourself.
Close by
Victoria lies directly below, Eden Island ten minutes to the east, Mission Lodge above on the Sans Souci Road.
